Seriously.

I realized awhile ago that because of who I am and how I am that it is best for me to limit my interaction with others.  I am a serious person, and I don’t get taken seriously.

I see how much that frustrates me.  I don’t want to put on airs but I am not going to lower myself anymore in order to get along with others.  If people don’t “get” me, then why would I put on a pretense of myself?  Then they will never “get” me because they never see the actual me.  Though, to be honest, I have to do what I have to do in order to get through a long day of work. I hate doing that.  That is why I really need to create my own work world so that I no longer have to be ridiculous.

One day at a time.

Trying Out A New Brand: Alex And Ani

Trying Out A New Brand: Alex And Ani

It is strange how my jewelry tastes change. For the longest time, necklaces and collars were my favorite pieces to wear. For the past year or two, it has migrated to my wrists. I think it has to do with the fact that wrist adornments can be worn in multiples, and I never had any luck with wearing more than one necklace. It inevitably would get tangled, and not in a chic way. I struggle with chicness. It eludes me or I am just too darn lazy to get its attention as it walks by. I am sad to admit that I crave comfort in most anything I wear, and fashionable is not equated with comfortable.
But I am working on that. I try really hard not to wear hoodies when I am out of the house other than for yoga, walking, or when it is super cold and I need the extra warmth. Baby steps.
Which brings me to this photo. I recently purchased some bangles by a company called Alex And Ani. This is a definite departure from my usual jewelry choices. It is still a designer brand, but none of it is made in precious metals. I usually shun anything that isn’t at least sterling silver, but the design of these bangles and the story behind the brand sold me.
I am a sucker for independant, made in U.S.A. stuff. And this fits the bill. And they aren’t annoying to wear at all, though I did have to take them off while I was in yoga because they slid down too much while I was in downward dog. So I am going to wear them for awhile, see how they hold up. Hopefully I didn’t waste my money hehe.
